“The desire for women to have larger breasts has been present long before implants. The first reported case was in 1895, when Austrian-German surgeon Vincenz Czerny removed a benign fatty tumor from a female patient’s lumbar region and put it in her breast to increase the size.”

“Perhaps it’s the allure of the forbidden. As Jerry Seinfeld put it, if women kept their heads covered instead of their breasts, we’d all be rushing to the corner store to pick up the latest copy of “Heads Illustrated.” But that doesn’t explain why women are equally fixated. Despite the recession, breast augmentation was the most popular cosmetic surgery last year, above rhinoplasty and liposuction, with 296,000 procedures, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.”

New technique increases breast size using patients own fat

A plastic surgery procedure in which the patient’s own fat is transplanted to the breasts ….. used along with treatment to expand the breast tissue before surgery …… can achieve a twofold increase in breast size, according to a study in the June issue of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, the official journal of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

According to Dr Norris, women tend to come to him seeking a natural looking breat augmentation that is not immediately obvious. ”Most women want their close friends and family to notice they appear more in proportion, but they don’t want to scream “boob job” to the stranger as they walk down the street,” he says.

The latest study from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) shows nearly 9.3 million cosmetic procedures were performed in the US in 2010, while breast augmentation was the most popular surgical procedure. Dr. Benjamin Norris , a plastic surgeon from Sydney’s Silkwood Medical comments on the Trans Umbilical Breast Augmentation (TUBA), a new approach in breast enlargement procedures.
